Hi there! I’m Mackenzie — the hands behind the rolling pin, the heart behind the recipes, and the founder of Bakery & Blooms. I wanted to start our blog with a little peek behind the scenes, and share how this sweet and floral adventure came to life.

A Little About Me

I’m a hardworking, determined, and friendly soul who finds joy in life’s simple pleasures — from digging into the garden and crocheting on a quiet evening, to pulling tractors (yes, really!) and raising chickens. When I’m not baking, I’m working as a part-time esthetician and nail tech, or helping my boyfriend run his business by handling office work. Life is full, busy, and beautiful — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Where It All Began

I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember, but the spark really ignited when I was just a kid. One year, my mom made me the most magical birthday cake — a jewelry box cake that was pure perfection. I remember looking at it in total awe, thinking, I want to be able to do that one day. And that dream never really left me.

Fast forward to the spring of 2024 — I had finally perfected my cinnamon roll and bagel recipes. I thought, These are too good not to share. That’s when the idea struck: what if I sold them at the farmers market? And better yet — what if I teamed up with someone who loved flowers just as much as I loved baking?

Enter Ayden — my best friend and the floral genius behind the “Blooms” in Bakery & Blooms. She’ll have her own intro soon (trust me, you’re going to love her), but together we turned a simple idea into something special: homemade baked goods and hand-picked florals, side by side.

What Bakery & Blooms Means to Me

For me, this business isn’t just about pastries and pretty petals — it’s about connection. I love that something as simple as a cinnamon roll or a bouquet can brighten someone’s day. I want people to feel the love and care that goes into every single item. There’s something different about receiving something homemade — not factory-made, but thoughtfully made. It’s a feeling I hope to share with every customer who visits us.

Running Bakery & Blooms has also helped me dream bigger. One day, I hope to have a homestead where I can grow, bake, and create even more — offering everything from the land, with love.

A Few of My Favorite Things

My cinnamon rolls are my pride and joy — they’re not just fun to make, they’re also one of our most-loved items (along with our jalapeño cheddar bagels — a definite fan favorite!). I’m always experimenting and testing new recipes to add to the menu, and I love the creativity that comes with it.

You’ll usually find me in the kitchen with coffee in hand (team coffee forever), music on — anything from country to classic rock to oldies — and a big smile on my face. The mood in my kitchen? Joyful. Always.
